Improve Strength With These Easy Wrist Exercises

Improve Strength With These Easy Wrist Exercises

2 minute read

Working as a nail technician day in and day out is taxing on the wrists and hands. In order to keep them in tip-top shape, it’s important to ensure that they’re conditioned. This not only keeps them working properly, but also prevents wrist-related injuries as a result of repetitive movement. Common injuries associated with hand and wrist stress—and quite common among nail professionals—include carpal tunnel syndrome and joint strain. But if you incorporate these simple wrist exercises into your work routine every day, you can keep your hands and wrists limber and help avoid injury.

1.     Start by extending your arms out in front of you and flexing your hands, as if you were doing a handstand. Hold for a count of five.

2.     Then, let the hands and fingers relax at your side.

3.     Next, with your arms extended again, make a tight fist with each hand.

4.     Keep your hands in a fist and bend your fists down, as if you were pointing to the floor. Hold for a count of five, then release.

Repeat each of these exercises 10 times, and when complete, gently shake out your hands and wrists. Start the day with these exercises and work them in throughout the day whenever you feel you need a break.
